Extended Palace

As the brief required the new city to be built in Port Phillip Bay, the initial idea was to extend the existing city into the bay. In the context of the local site points were found to extend into the city which created axis’ to place objects along which becomes the city. (Master of Architecture, 2021)

The domestic complexes holds all residents and the amenities required to live. The form is the inside-out version of the Governors Palace in Uxmal. The object is supersized and spread across creating ruins in the bay. The Industrial Complexes break the axis and intersect it. Holding all the services for the city. The city plays with scale where the domestic complexes are large monolithic structures while the industrial complexes are much smaller.

The Aquaponic Farm's form is both practical and symbolic. Based on the optimum tilt angle for solar panels on the roof. It also mimics the beach box form found along the coast.

The main method of transport into the city is via rail through the axis connections. Above the rail is a biking and walking trail which utilises all the space available.

Each building is a mini city. An inverted design similar to the Innovation Centre in Chile by Elemental is used to protect it from future extreme weather conditions due to climate change. All required programme is mixed and placed inside.
